Inspiration Nation: This is Spinal Tap

Ah, This is Spinal Tap. This movie I hold dear to my heart and "fat bottom" , as I saw it during those crucial teenage years when your humor and style are being shaped. So, for that, this film is forever on a pedestal. Yet, there's a lot of fashionable inspiration to be taken from this movie, especially from the hilariously terrible Yoko Ono of the movie: Jeanine. Unfortunately, I couldn't get many great shots. All were taken while the film was rolling, but you get the picture. You see her messy Rod-Stewart hair, colorful makeup, cowboy-indian flair mixed with tight nylon pants, excessive amounts of jewelry.
Feathers. One piece jumpers. Can you ask for anything more?

In addition to Jeannie, I must mention Nigel  and David who wore ironic Tshirts and Sweatesrs way before The Flight of the Concords or Urban Outfitters got ahold of 'em.

Retrospiration: "DTMTBD"

"DTMTBD"=
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead or
Panique chez les Crandell (French title, as I just learned from imdb)

Everyone who loves DTMTBD will you please stand up.
Okay, those still sitting please leave the room. I don't want to see yo' face.
I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this movie as a child. Christina Applegate's character (Sue Ellen) definitely planted the "fashion designer dream" in my head  Until the age of 19, my dream of becoming a fashion designer and going into the industry was steadfast, and I would say that this movie in addition to my mother's Neiman Marcus catalogs had the biggest influence over my fashion drive.

You see, Sue Ellen pretty much fulfilled my teenage dream job:
tricking the industry into thinking she's older and accidentally becoming a designer.

Even more, DTMTBSD was a dark teenage comedy with kids are living alone without supervision. It was like mixing MTV with the Box Car Children, a.k.a childhood utopia.
So, Sue Ellen's look can be summarized by a few things:
1) Big Earrings
2) Big Shoulder Pads
3) High-waisted pants
4) Bright colors
5) Gaudy jewelry...
Sound familiar? Seems the 20 year cyclical fashion theory is correct.

Rock 'n Rolla Dance Scene

Oh, Guy Ritchie. You already know that I like to dance. So naturally, this was my pretty much my favorite part of this film Rock 'N Rolla. Watch Thandie Newton. She's got some sweet, sweet moves. The video skips a little bit, but you get the point.

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes

SO, everyone as a child had a character from a movie.book.whatever. that he or she admired and wished to resemble in his or her life. For Passport Smiles, that was Barbara Streisand's character (Judy) in What's Up Doc, minus the extreme bad luck and catastrophic events she causes simply by being, herself. Yet, she embodied a strong woman whom Passport wanted to become: sharply witty, lighthearted, highly intelligent, uniquely styled, oddly beautiful, confident, and extremely quirky.

Judy: I know I'm different, but from now on I'm going to try and be the same.
Howard: The same as what?
Judy: The same as people who aren't different.

Eunice: Don't you know the meaning of propriety?
Judy: Propriety; noun: conformity to established standards of behavior or manner, suitability, rightness, or justice. See "etiquette."
