WAH-WAH-Wednesday: Patriotism

So, this can sorta be seen as a Patriotic outfit. We've got the red, the white and the blues.
Again, back to my "I NEED A KAMERA" post, I had to experiment with the lighting and setting, because my camera is not the best.

And now close-ups of one of my favorite treasures. A shop in Murray, KY custom made these types of wooden-purses. This was my grandmother's purse.
It has my Mom and Aunt's name on it:
 So cute!
 Happy belated 4th.
Outfit Details:
1) Straw Fedora Hat: Street Vendor in Paris
2) Multi-Colored Equestrian Scarf: DIY--I cut the bottom of a vintage skirt and made that a scarf.
3) Floral Summer Dress: The Limited circa 1997--it was my big sister's
4) Red, White and Blue belt: Vintage Chez my momma
5) Various Bangles: Vintage from my fam or from thrift stores

WAH-WAH-Wednesday: "I Need a Kamera"

A better camera is something I need quite badly to get better photos. But until then... I will leave you with this one outfit post pic:
"I need a camera to my eye
To my eye, reminding
Which lies I have been hiding
which echoes belong
I've counted out days
to see how far
I've driven in the dark
with echoes in my heart"

Outfit Details:
1) Black tank dress: H&M
2) Black, lacy bloomers: H&M
3) Coffee Bean Cardigan: Vintage, Goodwill
4) Tortoise-Shell belt: Vintage Chez My Momma
5) Purple Purse: Revival Boutique
6) Bohemia/ Kentucky Derby Black Hat: Some Boutique years ago when I was in high school
7) Coconut Platform Wedged heels: TJ MAXX
In a related note, here's a great 30 Rock quote:
""Why is it that NBC looks about as diverse as a Wilco concert?"

Wah-Wah-Wednesday

Taken last week in Nashville, these photos bear witness to the cool front that came into the city. Curly-haired, fair-skinned girls like me jump at the opportunity to take a vacation from the heat and humidity and bring out the pants and long-sleeves.
Yet, I'm actually in Owensboro, KY right now, staying with my Aunt after making a day trip up to Lexington, KY to search for apartments.
I will be moving up there in August to go to grad school for French.
So, this summer, I've been in 100% Sarah chill mode, anticipating the hyper-productivity that I will soon be living in a few months.

So, if you don't mind, I gotta leave you with this outfit post and get back to my chill-fest in Owensboro, KY. Toodle-loo!

Outfit Post: Sherbet

This outfit shouted "Sherbet!" to me, due to its bright colors and it being a hellacious, hot day. So naturally  I thought of sugary, cold delights. However, let's be honest, it really is more of a candy outfit than a sherbet one, due to the necklace that looks like it would be found in your trick-or-treat bag at the end of Halloween night. But then I would've had to do something like quote the song "I want candy" in the title post, and I didn't want to subject you readers to that. I just couldn't do that to you. (You're welcome).

So let's just stick with Sherbet. No but really, back to this necklace, it was my mother's in high school, and this is the first time I believe I've found an outfit to wear this. Luckily, chunky vintage jewelry is back in style. I've always loved it since I was a kid for the obvious, reasons (i.e. see left pic above). Yes, I was one of those kids who would stick her finger in the sugar jar or lick the icing edges off of cakes (why am I admitting this on here? Because I look like a kid who just did one of those things in the picture below):

Seriously, try not to laugh after seeing that photo. Apparently, Celeste (the photographer) made me hee-haw over something.

But, anyway, enough about candy and guffawing...now here's me randomly sitting/ posing on a wooden swing looking all depressed in the woods?? WHAT? Haharahhar. Outfit posting is so hilarious.

Outfit Post: The Backyard

In the backyard. With my camera. No photographer. The 3 shot setting. The direction changes. A chair appears. My dog interrupts some photos. I'm distracted by the neighbors. The sun peeps out, the sun disappears. And like the sun, my Louis comes and goes in the images. These are the results of no tripod/no extra human at home. Blogger's with boyfriends, you don't know how good you've got it for outfit posts! But truth-be-told, this whatever method is pretty a la Passport Smiles. I ain't nothin' fancy here.

So, with this outfit, I am introducing for the first time, my ZARA TRI-COLOR, leather Heels. I fell in love with these while living in France around March. I waited and waited, and I finally bought them before leaving Europe. Since then, I've only worn them twice, because I think they are too pretty to be ruined (I'm very hard on shoes and cannot walk very well in heels). This isn't a very great picture of them, but don't worry, you'll see them again in better lighting in some future outfit posts:

 Accessory Details:
1) Beaded Blue and Silver Necklace: Pangaea in Nashville, TN

Outfit Post: Murray, KY

Location: Murray, KY

These Urban Outfitters shorts/romper/overalls are supposed to be worn with the suspenders (see below), but for most of the day, I just let the straps hang like you see in the pictures above. The suspenders are connected by little buttons, so they are also removable. However, I think I like them better suspended.

Outift Details:
1) Snakeskin Vintage Sunglasses: Clothing Exchange of Nashville, TN (Hillsboro Village)
2) Annie Get Your Gun Earrings: Thrifted from Trends and Treasures (Murray, KY)
3) Red Button-Up Vintage Blouse: Revival Vintage Wear
4) Vintage Leather Belt: My Momma
5) Blue Silk Shorts Romper: Urban Outfitters
6) Ankle Leather Cowboy boots: Andre (France)
